PRODUCT GROUP 2. GEOTEXTILES / GEOGRID / JOGEMAT®

Jogemat

Green bank system from Joosten

Jogemat®; a flexible erosion mat

Jogemat is used as erosion protection for soil, slopes and banks. Jogemat has a base made of geotextile with a woven three-dimensional structure of polypropylene monofilament fibres. This three-dimensional structure is enclosed in 4-8 mm bound grit.
The geotextile acts as a filter layer preventing the erosion of the substrate and gives the mat strength.

Functionality and environment

Since approx. 30% of the Jogemat is hollow space, plants can easily grow through it. A green appearance is achieved by seeding the Jogemat immediately after it is laid and covering it with a thin layer of soil.
If an accelerated green appearance is desirable (e.g. in urban areas), a pre-planted coir mat or turf can be laid on top of the Jogemat.
The grit components adhere to one another because a bituminous binding agent is used. This also makes the Jogemat flexible so that it can withstand some subsidence. Examples of other growth constructions where Jogemat can be used include:
drainage layers and depot covers. There are also many other conceivable situations where growth constructions can be used. Studies show that the use of bound grit in hydraulic engineering is not problematic from an environmental or hygienic point of view.

Transport and storage

Jogemat is supplied on rolls with a core approx. 60 cm in diameter. It is stored on a hard surface, no more than two rolls on top of one another and protected from direct sunlight or other heat source.

Preparation

Level out and profile the surface. Remember that the flexibility of Jogemat means that any unevenness in the surface will be visible. Remove irregularities such as rubble, roots etc. The surface should be solid. Rapid growth can be achieved by seeding a grass mixture under the mat.

Dimensions and laying

Jogemat is available on a roll with a standard length of 15.20 metres. The working width is defined in consultation with the customer. There is a choice of four different widths, namely 1.20 m, 2.40 m, 3.60 m and a maximum of 4.80 m. For large volumes, almost any width can be manufactured in consultation. Major cutting losses and costs can be avoided by delivering the desired mat width directly ex works. Jogemat is approx. 2 cm thick and has a weight of approx. 17 kg/m2 or 20 kg/m2.
Jogemat is easy to lay by rolling out using a leg frame on a hydraulic excavator. On request, a strip of Jogemat can be left free of bound grit. This makes it easy to dig the Jogemat in or to overlap it with the next mat. If conditions require, the Jogemat can be secured with pins. The processing temperature of the mat must not exceed 7-8 degrees. For special applications, it is possible to manufacture the Jogemat in situ by applying a 3D structure to the geotextile and then filling it with the bound grit in situ.
